Organizer of the conference is National Institute of International Security Issues by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Harvard Black Sea Security Program, and Friedrich Ebert Fund.

The conference is devoted to the 10th anniversary of the Agreement between Georgia and Ukraine about friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance. The event is to be focused on analyzing its results, defining its future, including this of a wider context – both regional and international.

The conference coincides with the official visit of the Georgian President Eduard Shevarnadze to Ukraine.

Ukrainian side is to be represented by renowned political figures, experts from governmental and non-governmental sectors. The conference is to be attended by chiefs of the diplomatic representations accredited in Ukraine: USA, Russian Federation, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova as well as international organizations: the European Union, NATO Liaison Office, NATO Centre of Information and Documentation, coordinator of the OSCE projects, permanent representative of the UNDP etc.

It is expected that the Georgian party will comprise: Secretary of the National Security Council Mr. Tedo Japaridze, Minister of transport and communications Mr. Merab Adeishvili, Deputy minister of foreign affairs Mr. Merab Antadze, Chairman of the parliamentary committee on international cooperation Mr. Zviyad Mukbaniani, Chairman of the parliamentary committee for defense and security Mr. Irakly Batiashvili, General secretary, Permanent secretariat, Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC), Mr. Valery Chechelashvili, Director, Centre for strategic researches, Mr. Alexander Rondeli etc.

Prior to the conference (at 9.30), the President of Georgia is to deliver a speech in the premises of Institute of International Relations of the Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University, were the participants of the conference are invited. The conference is planned to take four sessions, each followed by a discussion.
