Ukraine has seized 50 ships that entered the ports of the Russian-occupied Crimea, the Prosecutor's Office of the ARC and Sevastopol said in response to a request from Radio Svoboda.
“At present, the court has seized 50 violating ships, 11 of them called the closed ports of the temporarily occupied Crimea under the Russian flag. Measures are being taken to establish the whereabouts of the seized courts in order to comply with the court's order, ”the prosecutor's office said.
The department noted that the Security Service of Ukraine department in the ARC is conducting a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the facts of illegal stay of ships in the closed ports of Crimea. The case was initiated under part 2 of article 332-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the procedure for entering and leaving the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine).
Since July 2014, the government of Ukraine has officially ceased functioning of all ports of the peninsula occupied by Russia, the Crimean harbors are closed to international shipping.
